Why I Love Coaching
I consider myself lucky to be able to do what I love for a living. Whether that’s coaching professional goalkeepers for a club, or private coaching of emerging talent. Here are my top ten favorite parts of coaching:
You have to have a passion for coaching. Doing the thing that I love means I get to bring passion to my job.
I am so driven by seeing the athletes that I work with learn, evolve, and achieve their goals.
I get to teach and use enthusiasm and character to transfer knowledge.
I learned long ago, you have to drop the ego and be patient. It’s the athlete’s journey, not the coach’s.
For everyone I work with, I believe with all of my heart that I can make a difference.
I commit to coaching with a firm belief and energy that powerfully resonates with the goalkeeper.
I am always open to listening to my goalkeeper’s thoughts, opinions, and emotions.
One size doesn’t fit all. I am flexible and familiar with many different coaching styles, allowing me to be fluid in a personalized approach to each athlete.
A good coaching relationship is personal. I always commit to being a good human and working to connect and understand the athlete.
This is a partnership. Together, we set realistic goals, plan, and structure the sessions and training plans.
Does that resonate with you?
